Autor: Mirko Sigloch Quelle: DiLerTube Text: China – Four Topics That Shape the Country 1. Freedom of Speech & Censorship In China, the media is controlled by the government. There are restrictions on the internet. Some websites are blocked. People do not have access to all information. The government can censor information. Journalists and the press also have rules. Freedom of speech is an important human right. In many countries, people take this right for granted. It is important to check the source of information. Is it the truth or a lie? 2. Temu, Shein & Fast Fashion Many people buy cheap clothes online. Companies sell brand-new clothes for very low prices. Discounts make shopping attractive. But fast fashion can create pollution and a lot of waste. We can do something about it. We can buy second-hand clothes, donate old clothes or recycle them. This can reduce waste and improve the environment. 3. Fake Brands & Product Copies You can find many cheap products online. Some products look like famous brands, but they are not original. People purchase these products because they are cheap. Some people also resell them to make money. This is prohibited. But the quality can be very different. When you buy a product, check the source. A cheap product is not always a good product. It can include harmful chemicals, for example. 4. TikTok vs. Douyin TikTok and Douyin look similar, but they are different apps. TikTok is used in many countries. Douyin is mainly used in China. Douyin has special rules for young users. It also offers educational content, for example videos about science, history and culture. TikTok is very popular, but there are concerns about data protection and privacy. The app collects a lot of information about its users. Both apps use modern technology to choose videos for you. This can influence what you watch. Social media can have a big effect on young people. So we should be critical and think about our privacy and the information we see online.
